Flock Safety, an Atlanta, Ga.-based surveillance company, is facing increasing community pushback as it secures contracts with law enforcement agencies across the country, reports WABE, the NPR and PBS affiliate for the Metro Atlanta Area.

Among Flock’s loudest critics is Benn Jordan, a recording artist and YouTuber who worked with technology experts and journalists to expose security vulnerabilities. The researchers were able to access cameras across the country through the open internet, viewing not only livestreams but also 30 days of recorded content with the option to delete the footage.

We invited Jordan onto the award-winning Cybercrime Magazine YouTube channel for a deep dive into Flock Safety Cameras, privacy, security, and surveillance. Jordan joined us remotely from what The Guardian describes as his cluttered studio-slash-laboratory in the Atlanta suburbs, which has a synthesizer in one corner and a computer chop-shop workbench in the other, befitting his general Buckaroo Banzai vibe.
